GIDARA Energy, a leading waste gasification technology company, is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to join our international team.
What will you be doing?
As a Principal Process Engineer, you will be working within the Process team. In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Be proficient with, and develop process deliverables to the highest technical standard and direct others in the production of these deliverables, and check and approve these deliverables from both a conceptual and detailed perspective;
  • Be profound with all issues connected with process safety, including design and specification of relief and venting systems;
  • Participate and coordinate all actions coming from the Process Safety Studies (eg HAZOP); 
  •  Applying the process design Department’s Practices  & Guidelines, Client’s Specifications, Local &  International Codes and standards in the engineering deliverables; 
  • Organize and lead teams of Process Engineers, serving as the Technical Lead for world-class projects.  Coordinate the process activities for several projects for a particular client or technology area. Serve as a Technical Project Manager for process studies;  
  • Approve all technical decisions made by engineers allocated to his/her team for a particular project; 
  • Continuously monitor the performance of the team in terms of man-hours, and costs against the schedule and budget;
  • Report to the Head of Process Dept and collaborate with him to efficiently coordinate the Process engineers team;
  •  Support business  development team during proposal stage and coordinate technical due diligence when required.
You will be personally responsible for: 
  • The preparation of regular progress reports covering the performance of the team on the particular project(s) worked on; 
  • The preparation of cost and man-hour estimates for jobs and proposals; 
  • Review & Approval of the process design work done by the team; 
  • Review & approval of all changes raised by the team or others that affect the  technical project activity/ deliverables;
  • Ensure that all the  team members comply with the design guidelines laid down for the project and all relevant general safety standards; 
  • When requested by Management follow the engineering through to Third Party Engineering Contractors office to provide them with technical know-how during the detailed engineering phase , or to go to site to act as a field engineer or commissioning engineer.
Who are you?
We are seeking a candidate that is solution driven and eager to learn, with excellent organizational and work coordination skills. The ideal candidate is open to working in a highly dynamic project team and can work across several projects simultaneously. Other favourable experiences are:
Hard/technical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering. A PhD is advantageous; 
  • Work / residency permit for the Netherlands; 
  • Over 15 years of proven engineering experience in process engineering within the chemicals or energy sector, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role;
  • Practical experience to develop conceptual and feasibility phase deliverables; 
  • Experience in managing licensed process units and integrating various process and utility systems; 
  • Strong knowledge of process design criteria, philosophies, and methodologies;
  • Experience with EPC projects, including design, procurement, and construction phases. Proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects through FEL1/2/3 phases;
  • Expert knowledge of process engineering principles, practices, and tools (e.g., process simulation software);
  • Have a good understanding of the control and safety systems in relation to the process requirements;
  • Gasification, synthesis gas cleaning and processing  experience and knowledge is an advantage.
Soft skills and personality traits
  • Leadership and team collaboration skills with a focus on driving technical excellence and fostering a collaborative work environment;
  • Able to translate technical complex topics into understandable manageable actions for other team members; 
  • Fluent in English and preferable also Dutch; Team player and a natural easy communicator.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities;
  • Willing to travel internationally if required, based on projects or BD requirements.
